Observe these Pirates bold and gayA
That sail a gory seaB
Notice their bright expressionC
The handsome one is meB
-
-
-
We plundered ships and harboursB
We spoiled the Spanish mainD
But Nemesis watched over usB
For it began to rainD
-
Oh all well meaning folk take heedE
Our Captain's fate was soreF
A more well meaning PirateG
Had never dripped with goreF
-
The rain was pouring long and loudH
The sea was drear and dimI
A little fish was floating thereJ
Our Captain pitied himI
-
-
-
How sad he said and dropped a tearJ
Splash on the cabin roofK
That we are dry while he is thereJ
Without a waterproofK
-
We'll get him up on board at onceB
For Science teaches meB
He will be wet if he remainsB
Much longer in the seaB
-
They fished him out the First Mate weptL
And came with rugs and aleM
The Boatswain brought him one goloshN
And fixed it on his tailM
-
-
-
But yet he never loved the shipO
Against the mast he'd leanP
If spoken to he coughed and smiledQ
And blushed a pallid greenP
-
Though plied with hardbake beef and beerR
He showed no wish to supS
The neatest riddles they could askT
He always gave them upS
-
-
-
They seized him and court martialled himI
In some excess of spleenP
For lack of social sympathyB
Victoria xiiB
-
They gathered every evidenceB
That might remove a doubtU
They wrote a postcard in his nameV
And partly scratched it outU
-
Till when his guilt was clear as dayA
With all formalityB
They doomed the traitor to be drownedW
And threw him in the seaB
-
-
-
The flashing sunset as he sankX
Made every scale a gemY
And turning with a graceful bowZ
He kissed his fin to themY
-
-
-
-
MORALA2
-
I am I think I have remarkedB2
Terrifically oldC2
The second Ice age was a farceB
The first was rather coldC2
-
A friend of mine a trilobiteC2
Had gathered in his youthD2
When trilobites were trilobitesB
This all important truthD2
-
We aged ones play solemn partsB
Sire guardian uncle kingE2
Affection is the salt of lifeF2
Kindness a noble thingE2
-
The old alone may comprehendC2
A sense in my decreeB
But if you find a fish on landC2
Oh throw it in the seaB
