Joseph Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH GGJG

If the stars fell night's nameless dreamsA
Of bliss and blasphemy came trueB
If skies were green and snow were goldC
And you loved me as I love youB
-
O long light hands and curled brown hairD
And eyes where sits a naked soulE
Dare I even then draw near and burnF
My fingers in the aureoleE
-
Yes in the one wise foolish hourG
God gives this strange strength to a manH
He can demand though not deserveI
Where ask he cannot seize he canH
-
But once the blood's wild wedding o'erG
Were not dread his half dark desireG
To see the Christ child in the cotJ
The Virgin Mary by the fireG
