E.c.b. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE EGHI JKEK

Before the grass grew over meA
I knew one good man through and throughB
And knew a soul and body joinedC
Are stronger than the heavens are blueB
-
A wisdom worthy of thy joyD
O great heart read I as I ranE
Now though men smite me on the faceF
I cannot curse the face of manE
-
I loved the man I saw yestreenE
Hanged with his babe's blood on his palmsG
I loved the man I saw to dayH
Who knocked not when he came with almsI
-
Hush for thy sake I even facedJ
The knowledge that is worse than hellK
And loved the man I saw but nowE
Hanging head downwards in the wellK
