Confessional Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHDJKJ BLILBMNM

Now that I kneel at the throne O QueenA
Pity and pardon meB
Much have I striven to sing the sameC
Brother of beast and treeB
Yet when the stars catch me aloneD
Never a linnet singsE
And the blood of a man is a bitter voiceF
And cries for foolish thingsE
-
Not for me be the vaunt of woeG
Was not I from a boyH
Vowed with the helmet and spear and spurI
To the blood red banner of joyH
A man may sing his psalms to a stoneD
Pour his blood for a weedJ
But the tears of a man are a sudden thingK
And come not of his creedJ
-
Nay but the earth is kind to meB
Though I cry for a starL
Leaves and grasses feather and flowerI
Cover the foolish scarL
Prophets and saints and seraphimB
Lighten the load with songM
And the heart of a man is a heavy loadN
For a man to bear alongM
