W. Q. J. * Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CDCDD EFEFG HIHII J

O hero of the iron ageA
Upon thy grave we will not weepB
Nor yet consume away in rageA
For thee and thy untimely sleepB
Our hearts a burning silence keepB
-
O martyr in these iron daysC
One fate was sure for soul like thineD
Well you foreknew but went your waysC
The crucifixion is the signD
The meed of all the kingly lineD
-
We may not mourn though such a nightE
Has fallen on our earthly spheresF
Bereft of love and truth and lightE
As never since the dawn of yearsF
For tears give birth alone to tearsG
-
One wreath upon they grave we layH
The silence of our bitter thoughtI
Words that would scorch their hearts of clayH
And turn to learn what thou has taughtI
To shape our lives as thine was wroughtI
-
