The Place Of Rest Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE CFCG HIHJ

'The soul is its own witness and its own refuge'A
-
-
Unto the deep the deep heart goesB
It lays its sadness nigh the breastC
Only the Mighty Mother knowsB
The wounds that quiver unconfessedC
-
It seeks a deeper silence stillD
It folds itself around with peaceE
Where thoughts alike of good or illD
In quietness unfostered ceaseE
-
It feels in the unwounding vastC
For comfort for its hopes and fearsF
The Mighty Mother bows at lastC
She listens to her children's tearsG
-
Where the last anguish deepens thereH
The fire of beauty smites through painI
A glory moves amid despairH
The Mother takes her child againJ
