The Parting Of Ways Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHFH AIAI JKJK LMLM

The skies from black to pearly greyA
Had veered without a star or sunB
Only a burning opal rayA
Fell on your brow when all was doneB
-
Aye after victory the crownC
Yet through the fight no word of cheerD
And what would win and what go downC
No word could help no light make clearD
-
A thousand ages onward ledE
Their joys and sorrows to that hourF
No wisdom weighed no word was saidE
For only what we were had powerF
-
There was no tender leaning thereG
Of brow to brow in loving moodH
For we were rapt apart and wereF
In elemental solitudeH
-
We knew not in redeeming dayA
Whether our spirits would be foundI
Floating along the starry wayA
Or in the earthly vapours drownedI
-
Brought by the sunrise coloured flameJ
To earth uncertain yet the whileK
I looked at you there slowly cameJ
Noble and sisterly your smileK
-
We bade adieu to love the oldL
We heard another lover thenM
Whose forms are myriad and untoldL
Sigh to us from the hearts of menM
