The Man To The Angel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HDHD IJIJ KLKL

I have wept a million tearsA
Pure and proud one where are thineB
What the gain though all thy yearsC
In unbroken beauty shineB
-
All your beauty cannot winD
Truth we learn in pain and sighsE
You can never enter inD
To the circle of the wiseE
-
They are but the slaves of lightF
Who have never known the gloomG
And between the dark and brightF
Willed in freedom their own doomG
-
Think not in your pureness thereH
That our pain but follows sinD
There are fires for those who dareH
Seek the throne of might to winD
-
Pure one from your pride refrainI
Dark and lost amid the strifeJ
I am myriad years of painI
Nearer to the fount of lifeJ
-
When defiance fierce is thrownK
At the God to whom you bowL
Rest the lips of the UnknownK
Tenderest upon my browL
