The Hermit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF DHDH IJIJ DDDD

Now the quietude of earthA
Nestles deep my heart withinB
Friendships new and strange have birthA
Since I left the city's dinB
-
Here the tempest stays its guileC
Like a big kind brother playsD
Romps and pauses here awhileC
From its immemorial waysD
-
Now the silver light of dawnE
Slipping through the leaves that fleckF
My one window hurries onG
Throws its arms around my neckF
-
Darkness to my doorway hiesD
Lays her chin upon the roofH
And her burning seraph eyesD
Now no longer keep aloofH
-
Here the ancient mysteryI
Holds its hands out day by dayJ
Takes a chair and croons with meI
By my cabin built of clayJ
-
When the dusky shadow flitsD
By the chimney nook I seeD
Where the old enchanter sitsD
Smiles and waves and beckons meD
