I heard twa corbies making a maenA
The tane unto the t'ither did sayB
Whaur shall we gang and dine the dayB
-
O doun beside yon auld fail dykeC
I wot there lies a new slain knightD
And naebody kens that he lies thereE
But his hawk his hound and his lady fairE
-
His hound is to the hunting ganeA
His hawk to fetch the wild fowl hameF
His lady's ta'en another mateG
Sae we may mak' our dinner sweetH
-
O we'll sit on his white hause baneA
And I'll pyke out his bonny blue e'enA
Wi' ae lock o' his gowden hairE
We'll theek our nest when it blaws bareE
-
Mony a ane for him makes maenA
But nane shall ken whaur he is ganeA
Over his banes when they are bareE
The wind shall blaw for evermairE
