Slowly The Black Earth Gains Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC BDEC FGHC

Slowly the black earth gains upon the yellowA
And the caked hill side is ribbed soft with furrowsB
Turn now again with voice and staff my ploughmanC
Guiding thy oxenC
-
Lift the great ploughshare clear the stones and bramblesB
Plant it the deeper with thy foot upon itD
Uprooting all the flowering weeds that bring notE
Food to thy childrenC
-
Patience is good for man and beast and labourF
Hardens to sorrow and the frost of winterG
Turn then again in the brave hope of harvestH
Singing to heavenC
