As In The Midst Of Battle There Is Room Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDCDEE

As in the midst of battle there is roomA
For thoughts of love and in foul sin for mirthB
As gossips whisper of a trinket's worthB
Spied by the death bed's flickering candle gloomA
As in the crevices of C sar's tombA
The sweet herbs flourish on a little earthB
So in this great disaster of our birthB
We can be happy and forget our doomA
-
For morning with a ray of tenderest joyC
Gilding the iron heaven hides the truthD
And evening gently woos us to employC
Our grief in idle catches Such is youthD
Till from that summer's trance we wake to findE
Despair before us vanity behindE
