The Creditor To His Proud Debtor Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDDDCEEEF GGGCHHHCI JJJCKKKCI LLLCCCCCEEEF

Ha tott'ring Johny strut and boastA
But think of what your feathers costB
Your crowing days are short at mostA
You bloom but soon to fadeC
Surely you could not stand so wideD
If strictly to the bottom triedD
The wind would blow your plume asideD
If half your debts were paidC
Then boast and bear the crackE
With the sheriff at your backE
Huzza for dandy JackE
My jolly fop my JoeF
-
The blue smoke from your segar fliesG
Offensive to my nose and eyesG
The most of people would be wiseG
Your presence to evadeC
Your pocket jingles loud with cashH
And thus you cut a foppish dashH
But alas dear boy you would be trashH
If your accounts were paidC
Then boast and bear the crack cI
-
My duck bill boots would look as brightJ
Had you in justice served me rightJ
Like you I then could step as lightJ
Before a flaunting maidC
As nicely could I clear my throatK
And to my tights my eyes devoteK
But I'd leave you bare without that coatK
For which you have not paidC
Then boast and bear the crack cI
-
I'd toss myself with a scornful airL
And to a poor man pay no careL
I could rock cross leg'd on my chairL
Within the cloister shadeC
I'd gird my neck with a light cravatC
And creaning wear my bell crown hatC
But away my down would fly at thatC
If once my debts were paidC
Then boast and bear the crackE
With a sheriff at your backE
Huzza for dandy JackE
My jolly fop my JoeF
