On Winter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IDJK LMLM NOPO QRSR TETU VWXW

When smiling Summer's charms are pastA
The voice of music diesB
Then Winter pours his chilling blastA
From rough inclement skiesB
-
The pensive dove shuts up her throatC
The larks forbear to soarD
Or raise one sweet delightful noteC
Which charm'd the ear beforeD
-
The screech owl peals her shivering toneE
Upon the brink of nightF
As some sequestered child unknownE
Which feared to come in sightF
-
The cattle all desert the fieldG
And eager seek the gladesH
Of naked trees which once did yieldG
Their sweet and pleasant shadesH
-
The humming insects all are stillI
The beetles rise no moreD
The constant tinkling of the bellJ
Along the heath is o'erK
-
Stern Boreas hurls each piercing galeL
With snow clad wings alongM
Discharging volleys mixed with hailL
Which chill the breeze of songM
-
Lo all the Southern windows closeN
Whence spicy breezes rollO
The herbage sinks in sad reposeP
And Winter sweeps the wholeO
-
Thus after youth old age comes onQ
And brings the frost of timeR
And e'er our vigor has withdrawnS
We shed the rose of primeR
-
Alas how quick it is the caseT
The scion youth is grownE
How soon it runs its morning raceT
And beauty's sun goes downU
-
The Autumn of declining yearsV
Must blanch the father's headW
Encumbered with a load of caresX
When youthful charms have fledW
