Which feared to come in sight | F |

The cattle all desert the field | G |
And eager seek the glades | H |
Of naked trees which once did yield | G |
Their sweet and pleasant shades | H |

The humming insects all are still | I |
The beetles rise no more | D |
The constant tinkling of the bell | J |
Along the heath is o'er | K |
- | |
Stern Boreas hurls each piercing gale | L |
With snow clad wings along | M |
Discharging volleys mixed with hail | L |
Which chill the breeze of song | M |
- | |
Lo all the Southern windows close | N |
Whence spicy breezes roll | O |
The herbage sinks in sad repose | P |

Alas how quick it is the case | T |
The scion youth is grown | E |

The Autumn of declining years | V |
Must blanch the father's head | W |
Encumbered with a load of cares | X |
When youthful charms have fled | W |
