And almost nature lose | B |
Aerial regions to explore | A |
With this ambitious Muse | B |

My towering thoughts with pinions rise | C |
Upon the gales of song | D |
Which waft me through the mental skies | C |
With music on my tongue | E |
- | |
My Muse is all on mystic fire | F |
Which kindles in my breast | G |
To scenes remote she doth aspire | H |
As never yet exprest | G |

Wrapt in the dust she scorns to lie | I |
Call'd by new charms away | J |
Nor will she e'er refuse to try | I |
Such wonders to survey | J |
- | |
Such is the quiet bliss of soul | K |
When in some calm retreat | G |
Where pensive thoughts like streamlets roll | K |
And render silence sweet | G |

And when the vain tumultuous crowd | G |
Shakes comfort from my mind | G |
My muse ascends above the cloud | G |
And leaves the noise behind | G |

With vivid flight she mounts on high | I |
Above the dusky maze | L |
And with a perspicacious eye | I |
Doth far 'bove nature gaze | L |
