On The Consequences Of Happy Marriages Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF AAGH IJKL AAAA MMNN AAOO PQAA

Hail happy pair from whom such raptures riseA
On whom I gaze with pleasure and surprizeA
From thy bright rays the gloom of strife is drivenB
For all the smiles of mutual love are HeavenB
-
Thrice happy pair no earthly joys excelC
Thy peaceful state there constant pleasures dwellC
Which cheer the mind and elevate the soulD
Whilst discord sinks beneath their soft controlD
-
The blaze of zeal extends from breast to breastE
While Heaven supplies each innocent requestE
And lo what fond regard their smiles revealF
Attractive as the magnet to the steelF
-
Their peaceful life is all content and easeA
They with delight each other strive to pleaseA
Each other's charms they only can admireG
Whose bosoms burn with pure connubial fireH
-
Th' indelible vestige of unblemished loveI
Must hence a guide to generations proveJ
Though virtuous partners moulder in the tombK
Their light may shine on ages yet to comeL
-
With grateful tears their well spent day shall closeA
When death like evening calls them to reposeA
Then mystic smiles may break from deep disguiseA
Like Vesper's torch transpiring in the skiesA
-
Like constellations still their works may shineM
In virtue's unextinguished blaze divineM
Happy are they whose race shall end the sameN
Sweeter than odours is a virtuous nameN
-
Such is the transcript of unfading graceA
illegible eflecting lustre on a future raceA
illegible virtuous on this line delight to treadO
illegible magnify the honors of the deadO
-
Who like a Phoenix did not burn in vainP
Incinerated to revive againQ
From whose exalted urn young love shall riseA
Exulting from a funeral sacrificeA
