Sweet memory like a pleasing dreamA
Still lends a dull and feeble rayB
For ages with her vestige teemsC
When beauty's trace is worn awayB

When pleasure with her harps unstrungD
Sits silent to be heard no moreE
Or leaves them on the willows hungD
And pass time glee forever o'erF

Still back in smiles thy glory stealsG
With ev'ning dew drops from thine eyeH
The twilight bursting from thy wheelsG
Ascends and bids oblivion flyH

Memory thy bush prevails to bloomI
Design'd to fade no never neverF
Will stamp thy vestige on the tombI
And bid th' immortal live foreverF

When youth's bright sun has once declinedJ
And bid his smiling day expireK
Mem'ry thy torch steals up behindJ
And sets thy hidden stars on fireF
