Heavenly Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHI BJKJ HLHL

Eternal spring of boundless graceA
It lifts the soul aboveB
Where God the Son unveils his faceA
And shows that Heaven is loveB
-
-
Love that revolves through endless yearsC
Love that can never pallD
Love which excludes the gloom of fearsC
Love to whom God is allE
-
-
Love which can ransom every slaveF
And set the pris'ner freeG
Gild the dark horrors of the graveF
And still the raging seaG
-
-
Let but the partial smile of HeavenH
Upon the bosom playI
The mystic sound of sins forgivenH
Can waft the soul awayI
-
-
The pilgrim's spirits show this loveB
They often soar on highJ
Languish from this dim earth to moveK
And leave the flesh to dieJ
-
-
Sing oh my soul rise up and runH
And leave this clay behindL
illegible ing thy swift flight beyond the sunH
Nor dwell in tents confinedL
