Farewell if ne'er I see thee moreA
Though distant calls my flight impelB
I shall not less thy grace adoreA
So friend forever fare thee wellB
-
Farewell forever did I sayC
What never more thy face to seeD
Then take the last fond look to dayC
And still to morrow think of meD
-
Farewell alas the tragic soundE
Has many a tender bosom tornF
While desolation spread aroundE
Deserted friendship left to mournF
-
Farewell awakes the sleeping tearG
The dormant rill from sorrow's eyeH
Express'd from one by nature dearI
Whose bosom heaves the latent sighH
-
Farewell is but departure's taleJ
When fond association endsK
And fate expands her lofty sailJ
To show the distant flight of friendsK
-
Alas and if we sure must partL
Far separated long to dwellB
I leave thee with a broken heartL
So friend forever fare thee wellB
-
I leave thee but forget thee neverM
Words cannot my feeling tellB
'Fare thee well and if foreverM
Still forever fare thee well '-
