H. Baptism Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHHGBBAs he that sees a dark and shady grove | A |
Stays not but looks beyond it on the sky | B |
So when I view my sins mine eyes remove | C |
More backward still and to that water fly | B |
Which is above the heav'ns whose spring and rest | D |
Is in my dear Redeemer's pierced side | E |
O blessed streams either ye do prevent | F |
And stop our sins from growing thick and wide | E |
Or else give tears to drown them as they grow | G |
In you Redemption measures all my time | H |
And spreads the plaster equal to the crime | H |
You taught the book of life my name that so | G |
What ever future sins should me miscall | B |
Your first acquaintance might discredit all | B |
