To The Author Of A Sonnet, Beginning, ' Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI J

Thy verse is 'sad' enough no doubtA
A devilish deal more sad than wittyB
Why we should weep I can't find outA
Unless for thee we weep in pityB
-
Yet there is one I pity moreC
And much alas I think he needs itD
For he I'm sure will suffer soreC
Who to his own misfortune reads itD
-
Thy rhymes without the aid of magicE
May once be read but never afterF
Yet their effect's by no means tragicE
Although by far too dull for laughterF
-
But would you make our bosoms bleedG
And of no common pang complainH
If you would make us weep indeedG
Tell us you'll read them o'er againI
-
