A
-
There was a time I need not nameB
Since it will ne'er forgotten beC
When all our feelings were the sameB
As still my soul hath been to theeC
-
-
-
-
And from that hour when first thy tongueD
Confess'd a love which equall'd mineE
Though many a grief my heart hath wrungD
Unknown and thus unfelt by thineE
-
-
-
-
None none hath sunk so deep as thisF
To think how all that love hath flownG
Transient as every faithless kissF
But transient in thy breast aloneG
-
-
-
-
And yet my heart some solace knewH
When late I heard thy lips declareI
In accents once imagined trueH
Remembrance of the days that wereJ
-
-
-
-
Yes my adored yet most unkindK
Though thou wilt never love againL
To me 'tis doubly sweet to findK
Remembrance of that love remainM
-
-
-
-
Yes 'tis a glorious thought to meC
Nor longer shall my soul repineM
Whate'er thou art or e'er shall beC
Thou hast been dearly solely mineM
