The Charity Ball Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DBDB

What matter the pangs of a husband and fatherA
If his sorrows in exile be great or be smallB
So the Pharisee's glories around her she gatherA
And the saint patronizes her 'charity ball 'C
-
What matters a heart which though faulty was feelingD
Be driven to excesses which once could appalB
That the sinner should suffer is only fair dealingD
As the saint keeps her charity back for 'the ball'B
