-
There is a mystic thread of lifeB
So dearly wreath'd with mine aloneC
That Destiny's relentless knifeB
At once must sever both or noneD
-
-
-
-
There is a Form on which these eyesE
Have fondly gazed with such delightF
By day that Form their joy suppliesE
And Dreams restore it through the nightF
-
-
-
-
There is a Voice whose tones inspireG
Such softened feelings in my breastH
I would not hear a Seraph ChoirI
Unless that voice could join the restH
-
-
-
-
There is a Face whose Blushes tellJ
Affection's tale upon the cheekK
But pallid at our fond farewellJ
Proclaims more love than words can speakK
-
-
-
-
There is a Lip which mine has prestH
But none had ever prest beforeL
It vowed to make me sweetly blestH
That mine alone should press it moreL
-
-
-
-
There is a Bosom all my ownC
Has pillow'd oft this aching headM
A Mouth which smiles on me aloneC
An Eye whose tears with mine are shedM
-
-
-
-
There are two Hearts whose movements thrillN
In unison so closely sweetO
That Pulse to Pulse responsive stillN
They Both must heave or cease to beatO
-
-
-
-
There are two Souls whose equal flowP
In gentle stream so calmly runD
That when they part they part ah noP
They cannot part those Souls are OneD
