Stanzas To A Lady, With The Poems Of Camoëns Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIJI

This votive pledge of fond esteemA
Perhaps dear girl for me thou'lt prizeB
It sings of Love's enchanting dreamA
A theme we never can despiseB
-
Who blames it but the envious foolC
The old and disappointed maidD
Or pupil of the prudish schoolC
In single sorrow doom'd to fadeD
-
Then read dear girl with feeling readE
For thou wilt ne'er be one of thoseF
To thee in vain I shall not pleadG
In pity for the poet's woesF
-
He was in sooth a genuine bardH
His was no faint fictitious flameI
Like his may love be thy rewardJ
But not thy hapless fate the sameI
