Stanzas For Music: They Say That Hope Is Happiness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHGH

They say that Hope is happinessA
But genuine Love must prize the pastB
And Memory wakes the thoughts that blessC
They rose the first they set the lastB
-
And all that Memory loves the mostD
Was once our only Hope to beE
And all that Hope adored and lostF
Hath melted into MemoryE
-
Alas it is delusion allG
The future cheats us from afarH
Nor can we be what we recallG
Nor dare we think on what we areH
