Sonnet Vii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCCCDDDDDDNo haste but good where wisdom makes the way | A |
For proof whereof behold the simple snail | B |
Who sees the soldier's carcass cast away | A |
With hot assault the Castle to assail | B |
By line and leisure climbs the wall | C |
And wins the turret's top more cunningly | C |
Than doughty Dick who lost his life and all | C |
With hoisting up his head so hastily | C |
The swiftest bitch brings forth the blindest whelps | D |
The hottest Fevers coldest cramps ensue | D |
The nakedest need hath ever latest helps | D |
With Nevil then I find this proverb true | D |
That Haste makes waste and therefore still I say | D |
No haste but good where wisdom makes the way | D |
