Fear Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHI HJHJ KLKL

When I was littleA
My life was half fearB
My nerves were as brittleA
As nature may bearC
-
Shapes monstrous would followD
My footsteps aloneE
And night huge and hollowD
Yawned cold as a stoneE
-
At trifles I startedF
For nothing I weptG
And terror departedF
Not all when I sleptG
-
Now I've grown olderH
My nerves I restrainI
My pulses are colderH
And clearer my brainI
-
Yet still with a shudderH
I drift through the darkJ
And fear holds the rudderH
A guiding my barkJ
-
The world's so enormousK
In multiple wholeL
What god can inform usK
It cares for a soulL
