| Our jovial hearts would have | E |
| In secret adventures happily | A |

| Have nothing tender to touch | G |
| And though a glowing longing torments | H |
| I've to do with no chest to lie on | I |
| So the fiery frustrations | J |
| Would as wild fire consume me | A |

| I refuse to bow to the evil schemes | K |
| Of this deadly elf | L |
| Threatening to tear us apart | F |
