To France Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB ADED FGFG AHIH

What is the gift we have given thee SisterA
What is the trust we have laid in thy handB
Hearts of our bravest our best and our dearestC
Blood of our blood we have sown in thy landB
-
What for all time will the harvest be SisterA
What will spring up from the seed that is sownD
Freedom and peace and goodwill among NationsE
Love that will bind us with love all our ownD
-
Bright is the path that is opening before usF
Upward and onward it mounts through the nightG
Sword shall not sever the bonds that unite usF
Leading the world to the fullness of lightG
-
Sorrow hath made thee more beautiful SisterA
Nobler and purer than ever beforeH
We who are chastened by sorrow and anguishI
Hail thee as sister and queen evermoreH
