Time Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AAAAABBACAACAA| I saw Time in his workshop carving faces | A |
| Scattered around his tools lay blunting griefs | A |
| Sharp cares that cut out deeply in reliefs | A |
| Of light and shade sorrows that smooth the traces | A |
| Of what were smiles Nor yet without fresh graces | A |
| His handiwork for ofttimes rough were ground | B |
| And polished oft the pinched made smooth and round | B |
| The calm look too the impetuous fire replaces | A |
| Long time I stood and watched with hideous grin | C |
| He took each heedless face between his knees | A |
| And graved and scarred and bleached with boiling tears | A |
| I wondering turned to go when lo my skin | C |
| Feels crumpled and in glass my own face sees | A |
| Itself all changed scarred careworn white with years | A |
