Catholicism Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA C DDCEF FEGHH GIJJI KLLKM NNM

HAST thou not seen the tints unfoldA
From earth sky sea and setting sunB
When all the glare of day was doneB
And melt in one long stream of goldA
-
So down the dim lit glades of timeC
-
Age after age things divers blendD
Each working for the same great endD
And in its working each sublimeC
Was it in vain that Buddha taughtE
Or that Mohammed lived and diedF
-
Have they not working side by sideF
In differing climes God's purpose wroughtE
O Christian sage who lov'st thy creedsG
Think not the ropes that bind thee fastH
Like storm tossed sailor to the mastH
-
Can answer yet each brother's needsG
And rail not thou at those half knownI
Who groping thro' a darker nightJ
Have found perhaps a dimmer lightJ
Than that thou sternly call'st thine ownI
-
-
Wouldst thou have spent like them thy youthK
Thy manhood and thy weak old ageL
In one long search thro' nature's pageL
An unassisted search for truthK
Oh dream not the Almighty's powersM
-
Must ever work in one known wayN
Nor think those planets have no dayN
Whose suns are other suns than oursM
