War And Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DD EEFFGH II

This war is a terrible thing he saidA
With its countless numbers of needless deadA
A futile warfare it seems to meB
Fought for no principle I can seeB
Alas that thousands of hearts should bleedC
For naught but a tyrant's boundless greedC

Said the wholesale grocer in righteous moodD
As he went to adulterate salable foodD
-
Spake as follows the merchant kingE
Isn't this war a disgusting thingE
Heartless cruel and useless tooF
It doesn't seem that it can be trueF
Think of the misery want and fearG
We ought to be grateful we've no war hereH

Six a week to a girl That's flatI
I can get a thousand to work for thatI
