The terrible things that the GovernorA
Of Kansas says alarm meB
And yet somehow we won the warC
In spite of the Regular ArmyB
-
The things they say of the old N GB
Are bitter and cruel and hardD
And yet we walloped the enemyB
In spite of the National GuardD
-
Too late too late was our work begunE
Too late were our forces sentF
And yet we smeared the horrible HunE
In spite of the PresidentF
-
What a frightful flivver this Baker isG
Cried many a senatorA
And yet we handed the Kaiser hisG
In spite of the Sec of WarC
-
A sadly incompetent sinful crewH
Is that of the recent fightI
And yet we put it across we doH
In spite of a lot of spiteI
