A Summer Summary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEE FFA GGDD DDH DDEE AAD AAEE

Shall I lying in a grotA
Die because the day is hotA
Or declare I can't endureB
Such a torrid temperatureC
Be it hotter than the flamesD
South Gehenna Junction claimsD
If it be not so to meE
What care I how hot it beE
-
Shall I say I love the townF
Praised by Robinson and BrowneF
Shall I say 'In summer heatA
Old Manhattan can't be beat '-
Be it luring as a barG
Or my neighbour's motor carG
If I think it is pazzizD
What care I how fine it isD
-
Shall I prate of rural joysD
Far from civic smoke and noiseD
Shall I like the others droolH
'But the nights are always cool '-
If I hate to rise at sixD
Shall I praise the suburbs NixD
If the country's not for meE
What care I how good it beE
-
Town or country cool or hotA
Differs nothing matters notA
For to quote that Roman cussD
Why dispute 'de gustibus '-
If to this or that one shouldA
Take a fancy it is goodA
If these rhymes look good to meE
What care I how bad they beE
