Snow-buntings Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GDGD

They come fluttering helpless to the groundA
Like wreaths of wind caught snowB
Uttering a plaintive chirping soundA
And rise and fall and know not where they goB
-
So small they are with feathers ruffled blownC
Adrift between earth desolate and leaden skyD
Nor have they ever knownC
Any but frozen earth and scudding clouds on highD
-
What hand doth guide these hapless creatures smallE
To sweet seeds that the withered grasses holdF
The little children of men go hungry allE
And stiffen and cry with numbing coldF
-
In a sudden gust the flock are whirled awayG
Uttering a frightened chirping cryD
And are lost like a wraith of departing dayG
Adrift between earth desolate and leaden skyD
