Not here in the populous townA
In the playhouse or martB
Not here in the ways gray and brownA
Bnt afar on the green swelling downA
Is the home of my heartB
-
There the hillside slopes down to a dellC
Whence a streamlet has startB
There are woods and sweet grass on the swellC
And the south winds and west know it wellC
Tis the home of my heartB
-
There s a cottage o ershadowed by leavesD
Growing fairer than artB
Where under the low sloping eavesD
No false hand the swallow bereavesD
Tis the home of my heartB
-
And there as you gaze down the leaE
Where the trees stand apartB
Over grassland and woodland may beE
You will catch the faint gleam of the seaE
From the home of my heartB
-
And there In the rapturous springF
When the morning rays dartB
O er the plain and the morning birds singF
You may see the most beautiful thingF
In the home of my heartB
-
For there at the casement aboveG
Where the rosebushes partB
Will blush the fair face of my loveG
Ah yes I It is this that will proveH
Tis the home of my heartB
