Drought Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB AABB CCBB DDBB

For rain for rain the parched lands cryA
Reproachful to the cloudless skyA
The hot white fields in light are blinkingB
The rivers in their beds are shrinkingB
-
For rest for rest the weary cryA
That watch from dark to dawn the skyA
A little sleep their limbs are cravingB
A little rest from ceaseless ravingB
-
God gives in His good time the rainC
And sends the sick man peace for painC
But while we wait His gracious sendingB
Alas the sad days seem unendingB
-
Yet when the evening comes the dewD
Brings to the fields a fragrance newD
And loving smiles at day s returningB
Will soothe awhile the sick man s yearningB
