The Bells Of Shandon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEAAE AAFAGEAAE AABHDEAAE IBJBKEAAE

With deep affection and recollectionA
I often think of the Shandon bellsB
Whose sounds so wild would in days of childhoodC
Fling round my cradle their magic spellsB
On this I ponder where'er I wanderD
And thus grow fonder sweet Cork of theeE
With thy bells of ShandonA
That sound so grand onA
The pleasant waters of the river LeeE
-
I have heard bells chiming full many a clime inA
Tolling sublime in cathedral shrineA
While at a glib rate brass tongues would vibrateF
But all their music spoke nought to thineA
For memory dwelling on each proud swellingG
Of the belfry knelling its bold notes freeE
Made the bells of ShandonA
Sound far more grand onA
The pleasant waters of the River LeeE
-
I have heard bells tolling old Adrian's mole inA
Their thunder rolling from the VaticanA
With cymbals glorious swinging uproariousB
In the gorgeous turrets of Notre DameH
But thy sounds were sweeter than the dome of PeterD
Flings o'er the Tiber pealing solemnlyE
Oh the bells of ShandonA
Sound far more grand onA
The pleasant waters of River LeeE
-
There's a bell in Moscow while on tower and Kiosk OI
In St Sophia the Turkman getsB
And loud in the air calls men to prayerJ
From the tapering summit of tall minaretsB
Such empty phantom I freely grant 'emK
But there's an anthem more dear to meE
'Tis the bells of ShandonA
That sound so grand onA
The pleasant waters of the River LeeE
