Wanderer's Return Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG HHII JJDD HHKK LLMM NOPP

My home is so glad my heart is so lightA
My wandering boy has returned to p nightA
He is blighted and bruised I know by sinB
But I am so glad to welcome him inB
-
The child of my tenderest love and careC
Has broken away from the tempter's snareC
tonight my heart is o'erflowing with joyD
I have found again my wandering boyD
-
My heart has been wrung with a thousand fearsE
Mine eyes have been drenched with the bitterest tearsF
Like shadows that fade are my past alarmsG
My boy is enclasped in his mother's armsG
-
The streets were not safe for my darling childH
Where sin with its evil attractions smiledH
But his wandering feet have ceased to roamI
And tonight my wayward boy is at homeI
-
At home with the mother that loves him bestJ
With the hearts that have ached with sad unrestJ
With the hearts that are thrilling with untold joyD
Because we have found our wandering boyD
-
In that wretched man so haggard and wildH
I only behold my returning childH
And the blissful tears from my eyes that startK
Are the overflow of a happy heartK
-
I have trodden the streets in lonely griefL
I have sought in prayer for my sole reliefL
But the depths of my heart tonight are stirredM
I know that the mother's prayer has been heardM
-
If the mother love be so strong and greatN
For her child sin weary and desolateO
Oh what must the love of the Father beP
For souls who have wandered like you and meP
