The Reunion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DAEA FGHG IJK LAMA N AOPO AQRQ ASHS SAQ

Well one morning real earlyA
I was going down the streetB
And I heard a stranger askingC
For Missis Chloe FleetB
-
There was something in his voiceD
That made me feel quite shakyA
And when I looked right in his faceE
Who should it be but JakeyA
-
I grasped him tight and took him homeF
What gladness filled my cupG
And I laughed and just rolled overH
And laughed and just give upG
-
'Where have you been O Jakey dearI
Why didn't you come beforeJ
Oh when you children went awayK
My heart was awful sore '-
-
'Why mammy I've been on your huntL
Since ever I've been freeA
And I have heard from brother BenM
He's down in TennesseeA
-
'He wrote me that he had a wife '-
'And children ' 'Yes he's three '-
'You married too ' 'Oh no indeedN
I thought I'd first get free '-
-
'Then Jakey you will stay with meA
And comfort my poor heartO
Old Mistus got no power nowP
To tear us both apartO
-
'I'm richer now than MistusA
Because I have got my sonQ
And Mister Thomas he is deadR
And she's nary oneQ
-
'You must write to brother BennyA
That he must come this fallS
And we'll make the cabin biggerH
And that will hold us allS
-
'Tell him I want to see 'em allS
Before my life do ceaseA
And then like good old SimeonQ
I hope to die in peace '-
