The Refiner's Gold Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKDK LMNM OGPG QMRM STUT VWXW

He stood before my heart's closed doorA
And asked to enter inB
But I had barred the passage o'erC
By unbelief and sinB
-
He came with nail prints in his handsD
To set my spirit freeE
With wounded feet he trod a pathF
To come and sup with meE
-
He found me poor and brought me goldG
The fire of love had triedH
And garments whitened by his bloodI
My wretchedness to hideH
-
The glare of life had dimmed my eyesJ
Its glamour was too brightK
He came with ointment in his handsD
To heal my darkened sightK
-
He knew my heart was tempest tossedL
By care and pain oppressedM
He whispered to my burdened heartN
Come unto me and restM
-
He found me weary faint and wornO
On barren mountains coldG
With love's constraint he drew me onP
To shelter in his foldG
-
Oh foolish heart how slow wert thouQ
To welcome thy dear guestM
To change thy weariness and careR
For comfort peace and restM
-
Close to his side oh may I stayS
Just to behold his faceT
Till I shall wear within my soulU
The image of his graceT
-
The grace that changes hearts of stoneV
To tenderness and loveW
And bids us run with willing feetX
Unto his courts aboveW
