The Building Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB CDCD CEAE FGAG CHCH FIAI

Build me a house said the MasterA
But not on the shifting sandB
Mid the wreck and roar of tempestsC
A house that will firmly standB
-
I will bring thee windows of agatesC
And gates of carbuncles brightD
And thy fairest courts and portalsC
Shall be filled with love and lightD
-
Thou shalt build with fadeless rubiesC
All fashioned around the throneE
A house that shall last foreverA
With Christ as the cornerstoneE
-
It shall be a royal mansionF
A fair and beautiful thingG
It will be the presence chamberA
Of thy Saviour Lord and KingG
-
Thy house shall he bound with pinionsC
To mansions of rest aboveH
But grace shall forge all the fettersC
With the links and cords of loveH
-
Thou shalt he free in this mansionF
From sorrow and pain of heartI
For the peace of God shall enterA
And never again departI
