To Mrs. ---- Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAACDECFFGHGHIDIJKA KALLA

Oh lady thou who in the olden timeA
Hadst been the star of many a poet's dreamB
Thou who unto a mind of mould sublimeA
Weddest the gentle graces that beseemA
Fair woman's best forgive the darling lineC
That falters forth thy praise nor let thine eyeD
Glance o'er the vain attempt too scornfullyE
But as thou read'st think what a love was mineC
That made me venture on a theme that noneF
Can know thee and not feel a hopeless oneF
Thou art most fair though sorrow's chastening wingG
Hath past and left its shadow on thy browH
And solemn thoughts are gently mellowingG
The splendour of thy beauty's summer nowH
Thou art most fair but thine is lovelinessI
That dwells not only on the lip or eyeD
Thy beauty is thy pure heart's holinessI
Thy grace thy lofty spirit's majestyJ
While thus I gaze on thee and watch thee glideK
Like some calm spirit o'er life's troubled streamA
With thy twin buds of beauty by thy sideK
Together blossoming I almost deemA
That I behold the loveliness and truthL
That like fair visions hovered round my youthL
Long sought and then forgotten as a dreamA
