Eastern Sunset Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEFEFGHGHFFFBBI IEEDJ

'Tis only the nightingale's warbled strainA
That floats through the evening skyB
With his note of love he replies againC
To the muezzin's holy cryB
As it sweetly sounds on the rosy airD
Allah il allah come to prayerD
Warm o'er the waters the red sun is glowingE
'Tis the last parting glance of his splendour and mightF
While each rippling wave on the bright shore is throwingE
Its white crest that breaks into showers of lightF
Each distant mosque and minaretG
Is shining in the setting sunH
Whose farewell look is brighter yetG
Than that with which his course begunH
On the dark blue mountains his smile is brightF
It glows on the orange grove's waving heightF
And breaks through its shade in long lines of lightF
No sound on the earth and no sound in the skyB
Save murmuring fountains that sparkle nighB
And the rustling flight of the evening breezeI
Who steals from his nest in the cypress treesI
And a thousand dewy odours flingE
As he shakes their white buds from his gossamer wingE
And flutters away through the spicy airD
At sound of a footstep drawing nearJ
