This I give to my poor motherB
As a prayer now to our MistressC
She who bore bitter pain for meD
God knows and also much sadnessC
I've no other castle or fortressC
That my body and soul can summonE
When I'm faced with life's distressF
Nor has my mother poor womanE

BalladeA
-
Lady of Heaven earthly queenG
Empress of the infernal regionsH
Receive me a humble ChristianE
To live among the chosen onesH
Though I'm worth less than anyoneE
Your grace my Lady and MistressC
Is greater than my sinfulnessC
Grace without which I tell no lieI
None deserve their blessednessC
In this faith let me live and dieI
-
Say to your Son that I am HisC
Through Him all my sins are lostA
Forgive me as Mary Egypt wasC
Or so they say TheophilusC
Who by your grace was still blamelessC
Though he vowed the Devil a guestA
Protect me always from like excessC
Virgin who bore without a cryI
Christ whom we celebrate at MassC
In this faith let me live and dieI
-
I am a woman poor and oldA
I can neither read nor spellJ
At Mass in church here I beholdA
A painted Heaven with harps a HellJ
Where the damned are boiled as wellJ
One gives me joy one strikes me coldA
Grant me the joy Great GoddessC
On whom all sinners must relyI
Fill me with faith and no slacknessC
In this faith let me live and dieI
-
V irgin you bore O High PrincessC
I ssue whose kingdom is endlessC
L ord who took on a littlenessC
L ike ours to save us left the skyI
O ffering his lovely youth to deathK
N ow such is our Lord such we confessC
In this faith let me live and dieI
