Ballade: Du Concours De Blois Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEAAAAA AFAFFGHAIA CFCFJIKAIA IAAGA

I'm dying of thirst beside the fountainA
Hot as fire and with chattering teethB
In my own land I'm in a far domainC
Near the flame I shiver beyond beliefD
Bare as a worm dressed in a furry sheatheE
I smile in tears wait without expectationA
Taking my comfort in sad desperationA
I rejoice without pleasures never a oneA
Strong I am without power or persuasionA
Welcomed gladly and spurned by everyoneA
-
Nothing is sure for me but what's uncertainA
Obscure whatever is plainly clear to seeF
I've no doubt except of everything certainA
Science is what happens accidentallyF
I win it all yet a loser I'm bound to beF
Saying God give you good even ' at dawnG
I greatly fear I'm falling when lying downH
I've plenty yet I've not one possessionA
I wait to inherit yet I'm no heir I ownI
Welcomed gladly and spurned by everyoneA
-
I never take care yet I've taken great painC
To acquire some goods but have none by meF
Who's nice to me is one I hate it's plainC
And who speaks truth deals with me most falselyF
He's my friend who can make me believeJ
A white swan is the blackest crow I've knownI
Who thinks he's power to help me does me harmK
Lies truth to me are all one under the sunA
I remember all have the wisdom of a stoneI
Welcomed gladly and spurned by everyoneA
-
-
Merciful Prince may it please you that I've shownI
There's much I know yet without sense or reasonA
I'm partial yet I hold with all men in commonA
What more can I do Redeem what I've in pawnG
Welcomed gladly and spurned by everyoneA
