Brothers and men that shall after us beA
Let not your hearts be hard to usB
For pitying this our miseryA
Ye shall find God the more piteousB
Look on us six that are hanging thusB
And for the flesh that so much we cherishedC
How it is eaten of birds and perishedC
And ashes and dust fill our bones' placeB
Mock not at us that so feeble beA
But pray God pardon us out of his graceB
-
Listen we pray you and look not in scornD
Though justly in sooth we are cast to dieE
Ye wot no man so wise is bornD
That keeps his wisdom constantlyA
Be ye then merciful and cryE
To Mary's Son that is piteousB
That his mercy take no stain from usB
Saving us out of the fiery placeB
We are but dead let no soul denyE
To pray God succor us of His graceB
-
The rain out of heaven has washed us cleanF
The sun has scorched us black and bareG
Ravens and rooks have pecked at our eyneF
And feathered their nests with our beardsB
And hairG
Round are we tossed and here and thereG
This way and that at the wild wind's willH
Never a moment my body is stillH
Birds they are busy about my faceB
Live not as we not fare as we fareG
Pray God pardon us out of His graceB
-
L'envoyI
Prince Jesus Master of all to theeA
We pray Hell gain no masteryA
That we come never anear that placeB
And ye men make no mockeryA
Pray God pardon us out of His graceB
