Oh Agathocles fare thee wellA
-
Naked and brave thou goestB
Without one glance behindB
Hast thou no fear AgathoclesC
Or backward grief of mindB
-
The dreamy dog beside theeD
Presses against thy kneeD
He too oh sweet AgathoclesC
Is deaf and visioned like theeD
-
Thou art so lithe and lovelyD
And yet thou art not oursC
What Delphic saying compels theeD
Of kings or topless towersC
-
That little blowing mantleE
Thou losest from thine armF
No shoon nor staff AgathoclesC
Nor sword to fend from harmF
-
Thou hast the changed impersonalE
Awed brow of mysteryD
Yesterday thou wast burningG
Mad boy for Glauc ouml eD
-
Philis thy mother calls theeD
Mine eyes with tears are dimH
Turn once look once AgathoclesC
The gods have blinded himH
-
Come back Agathocles the nightB
Brings thee what place of restB
Wine sweet are Glauc ouml e's kissesC
Flower soft her budding breastB
-
He seems to hearken Glauc ouml eD
He seems to listen and smileI
Nay Philis but a god songJ
He follows this many a mileI
-
Come back come back AgathoclesC
He scents the asphodelI
Unearthly swift he runnethD
Agathocles farewellI
