The Green Hunters Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDAEA FGAGAEGE AHAHIJAJ

The Green Hunters went ridin'A
They swept down the nightB
Through hollows of shadowC
An' pools of moonlightB
Their steeds' shoes of soft silverD
They blew ne'er a hornA
But trampled a highwayE
Among the ripe cornA
-
I looked from the half doorF
They never saw meG
For each one kept wavin'A
A slip of a treeG
'Twas black as the yewanA
An' whiter than mayE
An' red as the sallyG
That goes the wind's wayE
-
The Green Hunter came ridin'A
Back to Gore WoodH
Though they heard my lips movin'A
I stood where I stoodH
Oh what do they call himI
The one rode behindJ
For my heart's in his holdin'A
My mind in his mindJ
